It's unclear if other aspects of Sunset's grid trip up Tesla's FSD more than other San Francisco neighborhoods. A Tesla makes an unprotected left turn on Lincoln Way, a major road in San Francisco's Sunset District. Another street that was once notoriously difficult for Tesla's FSD to work in was Lombard Street, a steep and windy road northwest of San Francisco. When asked about using the FSD feature in the Sunset, she told BI that she had "no problems" with it. The automaker is the joint venture partner of Honda and Toyota in China, and has an electric car brand called Aion. Expanding outside ChinaLike other automakers in China, GAC is also turning overseas. China's overseas car sales surged last year, putting the country on par with Japan as the world's largest exporter of cars. Dyer expects that to drive overseas demand for Chinese electric cars. Chinese consumers placed almost twice as much importance on tech features compared with U.S. consumers, Dyer said, citing AlixPartners' survey.

The company talked up its experimental GLP-1 weight-loss drug, MariTide. The new weight loss drug could be injected monthly instead of weekly. AdvertisementThe competition is fierce in the GLP-1 weight loss market, with Novo Nordisk's Ozempic and Wegovy and Eli Lilly's Mounjary and Zepbound dominating sales. AdvertisementWhile a monthly weight-loss injected drug may sound appealing to patients, it is likely still far from hitting the market, assuming it passes all of its clinical trials. And even more convenient than a monthly injection of GLP-1 would be a weight loss pill, though Amgen said it ditched development of its oral weight loss drug candidate to instead focus on the development of MariTide.

A former Societe Generale trader who was fired for unauthorized risky bets has lambasted the French bank for making him a "scapegoat" and failing to take its share of responsibility for missing the trades. A SocGen spokesperson declined to comment on the post, but provided a statement on the pair's dismissal. Kataria said the trades were auto-booked and a "daily email was sent to the entire group mentioning the trades have been reconciled." "It's very easy for other people to say that we were not aware of the trades done by me," he wrote. The economist thinks the firm no longer keeps up with what CEO Elon Musk promises. Musk really wants Tesla to be a tech company, but it's an automaker, DeLong said. Advertisement"For all the current Tesla shareholders planning to offload their holdings in the next couple of years, everything hinges on the company succeeding as a meme stock, and Musk is diligently working toward that goal," DeLong argued. Last month, investor Roger McNamee warned that the stock would start trading like a car company if shareholders decided that Musk wasn't central to its narrative. In a similar vein, short-seller legend Jim Chanos called Tesla a "hopes and dreams" stock, trading more on Musk than fundamentals.

In February, the Met revealed Ballard’s 1962 short story “The Garden of Time” as the forthcoming red carpet theme. Victor Virgile/Gamma-Rapho/Getty ImagesThere is little glitz and glamor in Ballard’s world — or if there is, it doesn’t last for long. David Cronenberg's adaptation of JG Ballard's "Crash" debuted at Cannes Film Festival in 1996. In 2021, American designer Thom Browne’s Spring-Summer catwalk at New York Fashion Week also imagined life behind Count Axel’s garden wall. Cracks might finally be forming in the Federal Reserve's firm hawkish stance, according to Fundstrat Global Advisors' Tom Lee. As investors expected, the Fed kept interest rates unchanged after central bank policymakers had their meeting. "That's not really an inflationary signal, so I think the bar is actually being lowered now for the Fed to cut and I think that's something many people picked up." All in all, Lee thinks there's a "good probability" that interest rates are currently at their peak. If inflation does indeed improve in the next few months and interest rates fall, he has optimistic prospects for stocks.

Other automakers are seeing strong growth in their electric vehicle sales even as the overall global auto market faces a downturn, adding to the pressure for Tesla. Similarly, BMW said earlier in April that sales of fully electric vehicles at its core brand jumped 41% in the first quarter. However, as the EV maker aggressively cut the cost of new vehicles globally, used car values have dropped in parallel. "I think there's going to be a huge demand problem for Tesla," he added. "If Americans want lower interest rates, they're going to have to do it themselves," he said. "Going forward, mortgage rates will likely continue to fluctuate and it's impossible to say for certain where they'll end up," noted Jacob Channel, senior economist at LendingTree. Auto loansEven though auto loans are fixed, payments are getting bigger because car prices have been rising along with the interest rates on new loans, resulting in less affordable monthly payments. Student loansFederal student loan rates are also fixed, so most borrowers aren't immediately affected. Interest rates for the upcoming school year will be based on an auction of 10-Year Treasury notes later this month.

Last fall Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, accepted the racing team's push to join the grid, saying it met the criteria. Microsoft's OpenAI investment may have been prompted by concerns over Google's AI progress. In a 2019 email, a Microsoft exec said he was "very, very worried" about Google's AI capabilities. CNN —Former President Donald Trump will make his foray back onto the campaign trail Wednesday for the first time since his New York criminal hush money trial began in earnest last month. Trump advisers see openings with critical working class voters unhappy with inflation, and with Arab American voters who disprove of Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war. But they are still in the early stages of building out the teams, according two senior Trump campaign advisers, which they say will be a mix of paid staffers and volunteers. “That’s a colossal disaster for him,” one of the senior Trump advisers said, and it is something they plan to message on aggressively in the months ahead. Recent campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission show Biden’s principal campaign committee entered April with $85.5 million, while Trump’s main campaign account had $45.1 million in its war chest.

The second is the rate of EV sales growth is slowing, at least temporarily. The EV market is not collapsing, experts say, it’s just entering a new phase. Teslas still make up slightly more than half of all the electric vehicles sold in America, according to a report from Cox Automotive. But, just one year ago, Tesla produced more than 60% of all the EVs sold America. After having trouble cranking up production of its new generation of electric vehicles, GM seems to be accelerating.

New York CNN —Wednesday’s Federal Reserve policy decision will likely be pretty boring for investors — officials are widely expected to keep interest rates the same, just as they have since July 2023. They think that the Fed may curtail its quantitative tightening (QT) program — that’s the selling off of its assets to decrease money supply and increase interest rates — by as much as half. Those purchases ended up pushing down interest rates in certain parts of the economy, like housing and auto sales. That led to a “repo crisis”, where the interest rates for overnight loans between banks spiked unusually high. That’s because a taper should send bond prices higher, and interest rates lower.
